Pre/Post Facial/Skin Care Instructions

Before you Arrive

  1. Cleanse Your Skin: Remove makeup and cleanse your skin before your appointment, if possible. This allows the esthetician to start with a clean slate.
  2. Avoid Exfoliation: Refrain from using exfoliating products or treatments (like scrubs or chemical peels) for a few days before your facial. This prevents irritation and allows your skin to be in its best condition.
  3. Skip Waxing or Hair Removal: Avoid waxing or other hair removal methods for at least 48 hours before your facial to prevent irritation.
  4. Limit Sun Exposure: Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds a few days before your facial. Sunburned or overly sensitive skin may react poorly to facial treatments.
  5. Hydrate Well: Drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin will respond better to treatments.
  6. Avoid Heavy Exercise: Steer clear of intense workouts immediately before your facial to reduce sweating and potential skin sensitivity.
  7. Communicate: Inform your esthetician about any allergies, skin conditions, or recent changes in your skincare routine or medications.

After your Visit

  1. Avoid Touching Your Face: Refrain from touching your face with unclean hands to avoid introducing bacteria and causing breakouts.
  2. Skip Makeup: Try to avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours post-facial to let your skin breathe and recover.
  3. Follow Skincare Recommendations: Use any recommended skincare products or follow the advice given by your esthetician. This might include gentle cleansers, moisturizers, or specific serums.
  4. Avoid Sun Exposure: Continue to protect your skin from the sun for a few days after your facial. Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and consider wearing a hat or seeking shade.
  5. Hydrate: Keep drinking plenty of water to help your skin stay hydrated and flush out toxins.
  6. Avoid Exfoliation and Harsh Products: Refrain from using exfoliating products, retinoids, or other potentially irritating treatments for a few days after your facial.
  7. Be Gentle: Use gentle skincare products and avoid any aggressive treatments or activities (like steam rooms or saunas) for a few days to let your skin recover.
  8. Monitor Your Skin: Pay attention to how your skin reacts post-facial. If you notice any prolonged redness, irritation, or unusual reactions, contact your esthetician for advice.

By following these guidelines, you’ll help ensure that your facial treatment is as effective as possible and that your skin stays healthy and glowing!
